Woods Partners with Allies, Inc.
June 6th, 2012
Langhorne, Pa. -- Woods Services' Board of Trustees has approved an affiliation with Allies, Inc. of New Jersey. Mollie Woods, founder of Woods Services, would be very proud of this moment. Her vision, almost 100 years ago, was to provide supports and services for people with disabilities, so that they could "know the joy of achievement" and live a meaningful and fulfilling life. While Woods supports and services have broadened over the years, its mission has remained a constant, guiding force.
Woods is committed to enhancing its continuum of supports and services that includes
expanding into New Jersey with opportunities for community living. Ther partnership with Allies makes that possible. Allies is a non-profit organization that provides housing, meaningful employment and recreational opportunities to people with disabilities in the communities of their choice. Allies employs 700 staff who support more than 250 adults in 106 community homes located in 16 counties throughout New Jersey. It also operates a smaller program in Colorado that offers individuals shared and foster living opportunities and supports.
The partnership with Allies makes possible Woods' goal of enhancing its’ continuum of supports and services, especially in New Jersey. There are many synergies between the organizations, but the most significant is their drive to achieve exceptional outcomes for the people they support. Both organizations are well respected by funding and licensing agencies, peer institutions, families, and clients, and their affiliation will only strengthen their organizations' abilities to provide a broad continuum of high quality services that are evidenced-based.
Through their partnership, Woods will help Allies to expand its services and supports throughout New Jersey thus making a difference in the lives of many more people with special needs.
Each of the organizations will continue to operate as they have with Allies functioning as an affiliated subsidiary of Woods, similar to Woods' Brian’s House program that was acquired in 1996.
Woods is just months away from kicking off its Centennial year of operation so the timing couldn’t be better for finding a way to ensure the continuation of Mollie’s vision.
