Specialized Computer Software


One of the roles of the Squier Assistive Technology Center is to work with special education teachers, evaluate the needs of students, and research adaptive equipment and software that will enhance their learning experience.

A variety of software programs have been developed for children with

disabilities.Members of Woods Assistive Technology Center, the Occupational Therapy Department and Education Department teamed up to compile a list of software that will benefit children with autism, developmental disabilities and/or behavioral disorders.Approximately 50 software programs were selected including those that help build skills in reading, math, money management, spelling, vocabulary building and word pronunciation.Also included are cause and effect software and simple games such as coloring books and jig saw puzzles.Such software helps to hold students attention and interest and motivates them to learn through multi-media instruction.
