Biography of Diana Ramsay

Diana L. Ramsay is a nationally-recognized leader in behavioral healthcare and community-based programs. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, operations, fundraising, quality improvement, public policy and political advocacy. She will assume the presidency of Woods Services on July 5, 2011 as Woods’ sixth president.

Ms. Ramsay led project management and operations redesign for the Johns Hopkins Health System inpatient, outpatient and affiliates including pediatrics, surgery, medicine, cardiology, and radiology in preparation for health care reform and an anticipated move into a replacement facility. She also led a performance enhancement initiative for Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Prior to her current position, she spent 20 years serving in various leadership roles in the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Health System, most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Sheppard Pratt is rated one of the nation’s top ten psychiatric health systems and is the largest free-standing psychiatric health system in the mid-Atlantic region. There, Ms. Ramsay was responsible for strategic planning, quality improvement, corporate compliance, business development, administrative policies, and resource allocation for clinical and administrative departments.

Ms. Ramsay also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Way Station, Inc. a nationally recognized community rehabilitation program that was acquired by the Sheppard Pratt Foundation. There, she led an expansion of programs and staffing that resulted in a significant increase in revenues over a three year period. She also established Way Station as a national leader in mental health policy and research by forming and directing a Mental Health Policy Institute.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Towson University and was the John J. Sexton Fellow in Social Policy at the University of Maryland where she earned a Master of Public Policy degree. She serves on numerous boards including the National Aquarium, Baltimore City Homeless Board, and the Towson University Alumni Board. She is a past president of the Board of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems, the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, and she is the current president of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation.

Ms. Ramsay resided in the Washington DC area until 15 years ago when she relocated to Baltimore. She recently moved to the Philadelphia area with her partner, Michael.
