Woods System of Care Affiliate Woods Services Receives Inclusive Healthy Communities Initiative Funding

Woods Services, Inc., an affiliate of Woods System of Care, is proud to announce participation in the Inclusive Healthy Communities (IHC) initiative, supported by a grant from the New Jersey Division of Disability Services (DDS). This is Woods Service’s third time being part of Inclusive Healthy Communities.

With this funding from DDS, Woods System of Care creates more equitable healthcare experiences for individuals with disabilities through comprehensive training, community engagement, and the development of a “disability-friendly” healthcare framework.

Through the Woods System of Care affiliate organizations everyone is provided access to quality healthcare that respects their unique needs and abilities.

“We are so pleased to continue the Inclusive Healthy Communities initiative because it aligns with our mission to make healthcare accessible to everyone, with a special focus on integrated care” said Tine Hansen-Turton, President and CEO of Woods System of Care. “By focusing on the intersection of disability and healthcare access, Woods System of Care is addressing a critical gap in our current health system.”

Through the Inclusive Healthy Communities grant initiative, Woods System of Care  transforms how healthcare providers interact with and support individuals with disabilities, creating lasting change in healthcare delivery systems.

The initiative focuses on achieving three primary goals:

  • Expansion of training programs providing specialized training to healthcare professionals.
  • Development of a disability-friendly healthcare framework that healthcare providers can implement to create more inclusive and accessible environments.
  • Meaningful inclusion of individuals with disabilities in guiding the work and ensuring the initiative remains responsive to community needs.

Nearly one in four adults in New Jersey lives with a disability. People with disabilities often encounter disparities in critical areas that impact their health and well-being—disparities we are committed to addressing. Through this ongoing initiative, we are working to empower communities to develop inclusive resources and practices, enabling individuals with disabilities to achieve better health outcomes.

Please contact Woods System of Care for more information, and to participate in a stakeholder meeting in your area. Your support and engagement are essential to our success.

This initiative is funded through a grant from the New Jersey Division of Disability Services (DDS).
