Individuals who have reached the age of retirement or who are unable to work, attend Holland Enrichment Center. Instructors work with these individuals to develop vital life skills that will enable them to function more independently and interact more fully with the world around them. This program is specifically designed for adults with more severe intellectual or physical disabilities, which often result in challenges in the workplace. We provide a full-time program that includes individually tailored skill building as well as socialization and fun.
Group activities include, advanced skills, work and pre-work readiness, functional pre-academic, sensory awareness, and communications. A typical day at Holland begins at 9:30 a.m., clients socialize and greeting one another, then begin working on both group and individual activities. After lunch attendees participate in outdoor activities – weather permitting – then in a series of regular programs, such as music class, movie time, swimming, and physical and / or occupational therapy before returning to their residences at 3PM.
The Seniors program provides opportunities to share in a variety of activities each day, ranging from arts and crafts, to self-help skills, to exercise. Our seniors also enjoy free time when they can pursue individual interests. With our senior population we strive to maintain skill levels and provide an opportunity for a busy yet relaxed day.
